"…let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to
eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God."    Revelation 2:7

EMERGENCE
by haRold Smith
from Jerusalem, Israel

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. Then He spoke to them a parable: 'Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.' So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place (see "Judgment"). Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the headache and nausea of self-indulgence, worldly worries and cares pertaining to the business of this life, lest that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose for it will come upon all who live upon the face of the entire earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:25-36

We are living in the time of times. This is the time Yeshua spoke of that we are seeing unfold before our very eyes in which everything is being shaken to its foundational core. This shaking will not subside until HaMashiach (the Messiah) wholly and completely emerges upon this planet in His Saints that have been prepared for His Coming.

This is the era that all the ancient patriarchs and prophets of the ages have looked for and longed to see. These are the times our Exalted Brother and Lord Yeshua spoke of in Matthew 24 and Mark 13. With the rebirth of the Nation of Israel at the signing of her Declaration of Independence by David Ben-Gurion on November 29, 1947, and in the recognition of her statehood by the rest of the world six months later, we have since been standing as witnesses to the fulfillment of scripture predicting these events presaging the coming of our Glorious Risen Lord. Israel is the barometer by which we can gauge the immanent times we are in. Unfortunately, most of the world (including believers in Yeshua) is not even aware of what is happening - of the significance of these events.

The emergence of the Lord into this earthly realm will be like His first in this regard - it will cause turmoil in the external sphere. This is not God sitting off in the heavenlies somewhere premeditating how He will wield His "wacky stick of judgment" on those who He thinks to be out of line. This is the Kingdom of Light emerging into the kingdom of darkness and at the point where these two kingdoms converge - there will be physical turmoil. It is as unavoidable as any universal effect found in physics. To attempt to cling to the things of this world as they are crumbling about us will be futile - yet, many will try. It will be like trying to bridge the gulf of a chasm caused by an earthquake as it continues to widen.

graves opened When He emerged the first time in His resurrected body there was turmoil, things happened - the ground shook, graves opened and the dead walked (Matthew 27:51-53). It was a climactic event. Monumental things were happening in the spiritual realm that became visible in the physical realm. This was as a result of His emergence as a single individual - Yeshua. As glorious as that event was, His next appearance will be even more spectacular because this time, He is emerging as One in many (a "cloud" of witnesses, if you will - Hebrews 12:1). I believe this to be the "greater works" He spoke of in John 14:12. (see "The Body" and "A Vision").

The next "move" of Rauch HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) in this earthly realm will be with those who have been molded into His Life the way He lived it, shaped and fashioned in the crucible of fire for this time - the unglamorous, the unappreciated, the down-trodden, the bruised and the wounded who have allowed themselves to be redeemed by His Grace from the ash pit of life they were once relegated to, are they who He will be manifest in. The scripture says He was a "man of sorrow, acquainted with grief." (Isaiah 53:3). It is in that remnant in the Body, who have lived His Life and allowed themselves to become broken vessels, it is they through which He will be moving to personify Himself into this earthly realm. He is not coming in the externalities the way many think, but in the lives of those who have given themselves to Him wholly - who have allowed this fire of His searing to be the mark of their life (Matthew 3:11).

This event, as it plays out, will catch many, many off guard and unprepared - and it is not the unbelieving being spoken of here. Of the ten virgins described in Matthew 25:1-13, there were five who trimmed their lamps and five who did not. Folks, hear this - the five who were not prepared WERE STILL VIRGINS. To excuse our actions in this time will not send us to hell, but it will resign us into a place seated farther back from the Source of Light than where we could have been - for eternity. For the rest of being we will carry with us the knowledge that "this is really good…but I could have been up there, closer to Him."

So, how do we do this? How do we maneuver our way through the chaos that has begun and not be touched by it? How do we "…escape all these things that will come to pass to stand before the Son of Man?" We must first, above all, realize these events ARE happening, just as Yeshua and the prophets spoke of, AND NOT FEAR THEM, not fear what will happen to you and your "stuff". Yeshua said in the scripture above, that when you see these things happening, lift up your head and Rejoice! We have the privilege of not just living in these times, but actually being a participant in bringing Redemption into being.

light and darkness He wants us to walk in the midst of this tribulation (this shaking we have been hearing so much about) being on our guard to not be overwhelmed with the cares of this life - but, instead, in the middle of the turmoil holding out to all by the example of the actions in our life, the Word of Life (Philippians 2:13-16a). If we try to hang on to what we consider precious or essential in this life, we will be sucked into that chasm called fear. Like Light and darkness, faith and fear cannot occupy the same space at the same time - they oppose one another like trying to force the opposite ends of a magnet together.

Faith and fear are both an internal choice we make that determine what course of action we take when confronted with external circumstances. Revelation 21:8 tells us that ahead of all of those despicable who will not make it into the Kingdom, at the top of the list and before the unbelieving, are "the fearful". We are already seeing "…men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth" and their subsequent actions to try to hold onto what they consider dear to their life.

The events gripping the world today are causing the nations (men's hearts) to make decisions born out of desperation to try and stabilize the turmoil facing them. The decisions they implement in one arena creates unexpected ramifications in others. The effects from a multitude of fear-based choices further concentrates and strengthens this economic, financial and political atmosphere of instability - creating a self-sustaining, fire-storm type of vortex wrecking havoc across the globe. Just as one example - who would have thought, just a year ago, that the production of corn-based ethanol, a decision motivated out of the fear of all that surrounds rising oil prices, would have resulted in an adverse impact as far-reaching as it has become on the pricing, stability and availability of the world food supply that we are seeing today? Even before the recent flooding in the "bread-basket of the world" in America which only aggravated the situation further.

Conversely, if our spirit is to survive the coming days and not be consumed with dread, we must consider everything in this earthly realm to be loss - real loss, detached from it loss. When you see it start to go, let it go - no matter what it has meant to you in the past and no matter what the consequences of what the world will tell you that letting it go will mean in the future. In actuality, God is delivering you from the very things that would drag you into the abyss and He is using the circumstance to prepare you to live in the moment. (Luke 17:33, 1Timothy 6:8, Matthew 6:25, see "Authority")

Scripture states when "all nations" are arrayed against Jerusalem, then will the Lord arise on her behalf (Zechariah 14:1-3). We are almost at that place. There is but a single nation left that has aligned herself with Israel - the United States. The events of the world, however, are already forcing her into making choices of self-interest that will ultimately put her in a stance of opposition to Israel. You can pray for that not to happen, but it will only delay the inevitable. Yeshua said all these things must need to happen in order for the stage to be set to hasten His return (Mark 13:7). We must constantly remind ourselves that our Kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). My personal prayer is "Maranatha" - come, Lord (Revelation 22:20).

This is not a call for "survivalism" in the natural. It does not mean to stockpile food, to carve out a place in the wilderness or to place one's wealth in off-shore accounts. To move in those directions only means there is not an understanding of the severity of the time upon us. This shaking will affect everyone, everywhere - there will be no place to run and no place to hide. Our trust, if we have allowed Him to exercise us in it, will have to be on Him and Him alone. There will be only one place of refuge and that is in Psalm 91, abiding under the shadow of the Almighty.

…in a place where there is darkness it is best to light a candle.

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love you." (Psalm 122:6)
(prosper - from the Hebrew, "shalav", meaning "to be at rest")
